Hi !
Why are carbohydrates and fats considered high energy foods?
They have a lot of electrons associated with hydrogen.
Carbohydrates and lipids are regarded as high-energy foods due to their high concentration of electrons linked with the hydrogen atoms existing in their macromolecules.
These food classes contain hydrogen electrons, which facilitate the breakdown of these macromolecules to produce glucose and fatty acids, accordingly.
These chemical compounds(glucose and fatty acids) which are by-products of carbohydrates and fats are stored in the body for later because they are extremely rich in calorie.
Glucose provides energy quickly because it is rapidly taken into cells, but fatty acids provide energy slowly and can be used by the body for the energy it requires for an extended period of time.
