A triangle is placed in a semicircle with a radius of 2 ft, as shown below. Find the area of the shaded region.

Area of a circle is PI x r^2
Area of full circle = PI x 2^2 = 3.14 x 4 = 12.56
A semicircle is half a circle.
Area of the semi circle = 12.56 / 2 = 6.28 square feet.
Area of a triangle is 1/2 x base x height.
Area of triangle = 1/2 x 4 x 2 = 4 square feet.
Area of shaded region = area of semi circle - area of triangle:
Area of shaded region = 6.28 - 4 = 2.28 square feet.
