The correct answer is C. The narrator's mother comes to school, and some of the kids mock her hairstyle.

Explanation:

In plot development, the conflict emerges after the exposition or background and this increases during the story due to events, the actions of characters, and other factors. In the case presented, a cultural conflict emerges because the narrator finds out the hairstyle of her mother that is similar to her own hairstyle is considered as strange in the new culture especially at her school and due to this, the narrator makes her hair look different for school without her mother noticing this.

In this context, the cultural conflict would increase or become worse in the case the mother discovers the behavior of the girl or if the mother discovers the opinion of children about her hairstyle because in this way the cultural conflict would involve more characters and there might be a confrontation between characters especially as the mother would debate between the new and the old culture. According to this, the plot development that would make the cultural conflict worse is "The narrator's mother comes to school, and some of the kids mock her hairstyle".
