Answer:  Camillo Benso Cavour was born in 1810.

He had a big role in Italy's unification. He founded the newspaper 'Il Risorgimento' which educated the public about the ides of unification. He wanted a unified Italy, a new Italy.

Through a tactful diplomatic alliance with France engineered by Cavour, Sardinia-Piedmont succeeded in defeating the Austrian forces in 1859.

The unification was completed in 1870, this time with Prussian help.  Prussia and Italy allied together in wars in 1866 and 1870, defeating Austria and France respectively.  These wars ejected the Austrians and French from Italy and Italy was able to be completely united in 1870.
