Answer:

We come across several events of conflicts between mother and daughter especially regarding mom wanting the daughter to take piano lessons and the daughter refusing it strongly. These conflicts above developed because of the very different characteristics of the mother and daughter, which we can understand from the indirect characterization of these two characters throughout the story. From these conflicts, we can conclude that the mother’s character was ambitious with high expectations from her daughter. She was determined to give her daughter lessons even in exchange for free labor. From this incident, we can also realize that the daughter was not very compassionate about the mother’s sacrifice, took everything for granted and saw the piano lessons as a burden on her. It also brings out her rebellious nature against obedience towards her mother.
