The erosion is a natural process and it has always been present, but the problem is that its rates are much higher nowadays because of the human activity. The humans have destroyed lot of vegetation for one reason or another, which in turn led to the soil to be more exposed to the erosive processes. Without having its natural protection from the plants and their root systems, the soil is very easily moved away from its initial location.
- The simplest and cheapest method to stop or minimize the erosion is by planting vegetation that is suitable for the conditions at a particular area.
- The plants that will grow will quickly tighten up the soil with their root systems, and provide cover with the steams and leaves, thus having result in very short space of time.
- The planting of the vegetation can be implemented by the governments, like making a day for planting vegetation on places like this, where all companies and their employees will be obligated to participate. Also, the children from the schools can be included, which will also result in higher awareness for the environment.
- As the places that have been stripped of vegetation tend to be drier and with poor soil, plants like the wild or semi-wild apricots, pistachios, various succulents, can be used, as they grow quickly, are low maintenance or don't require maintenance at all, and on top of it they provide useful products once grown properly.
- The expected results will be minimizing or stopping the erosion in only few years, stopping the large amounts of sediments moving into the rivers, retaining the landscape, lifting up the environmental awareness, and even having profit and benefits on the long run from the plants.
