The congressional oversight is the power that is owned by the American congress and is intended for the monitoring and changing of the actions of the executive and other government agencies. Therefore the primary goal of the congress is to control from abuse waste of resources and to protect civil liberties.
The oversight powers are extended to other virtual programs, regulations, and policies that are implemented by the government in cases when congress finds loopholes that the agency has used more power when passing a law.
