So, Cindy would have had to walk 6 miles. Indicated by the numbers along her path. And since she went 6 miles in 2 hours, she had an average speed was 3. (6/3). And since Bret’s speed was double hers, (3•2) his average speed was 6mph.

hence , average speed of Bret will be = 2x

since , distance = speed * time

distance will be = (A to F) + (F to E) =  2 + 4 = 6
