Higher Order Thinking See Guy's work.
Is his answer correct? What mistake did he make?

8,265 - 7,145
= (8,265 - 55) (7,145 + 55)
= 8,210 - 7,200
= 1,010

Respuesta :

I don’t know where the 55s came from but I’m guessing it is part of the math problem. But the mistake is that the numbers 8,210 and 7200 do not subtract together. They are multiplied. They are multiplied together because of the parenthesis that surrounds each number after Subtraction or Addition. The only way they would be added or subtracted together is if there is an addition or Subtraction symbol between the parenthesis of both numbers. Continuing on,(8,265-55)(7,145+55) will turn into:(8,200)(7200)
Multiply them together will get 59040000.

The mistake is that 8,265 and 7,145 cannot be subtracted together.

What are Arithmetic operations?

Arithmetic operations can also be specified by subtracting, dividing, and multiplying built-in functions. The operator that performs the arithmetic operation is called the arithmetic operator.

Operators which let do a basic mathematical calculation

+ Addition operation: Adds values on either side of the operator.

For example 12 + 2 = 14

- Subtraction operation: Subtracts the right-hand operand from the left-hand operand.

for example 12 -2 = 10

* Multiplication operation: Multiplies values on either side of the operator

For example 12*2 = 24

Given as :

8,265 - 7,145

= (8,265 - 55) (7,145 + 55)

= 8,210 - 7,200

= 1,010

The mistake is that 8,265 and 7,145 cannot be subtracted together. They increase in number. The parenthesis that surrounds each integer after Subtraction or Addition causes them to be multiplied together.

So the correct work as

⇒ 8,265 - 7,145

⇒ 1120
