A blood sample contains several different types of cells, each of which contains different combination of specific ions and molecules. The cells are suspended in water, and the water also contains many molecules and ions. Which term or terms could be used to describe this sample?

1 mixture

2 heterogeneous mixture

3 homogeneous mixture

4 solution

5 pure chemical substance

6 compound

7 element

Respuesta :

Mixture: 2 or more substances mixed together that can be separated.

Example: oil and water.

Solution: 2 or more substances mixed together that can’t be easily separated.

Example: Cake.

Heterogenous mixture: mixture which has different stuff together which you can physically tell difference.

Example: Salad

Homogenous mixture: mixture that has stuff together where you can tell difference visibly.

Example: vinegar

Pure substance: made of only one type of atom.
Example: water

Compound: substance that has two or more elements.
Example: water (H2O), Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Element: pure substance made of 1 type on atom.

Example: gold, helium.

So for this question: blood is not a pure substance, it’s made of many different stuff like salt, water, cells, etc. It can be homogenous at sight but heterogenous at microscopic level. It can be a solution.

Ans: 1,2,3,4
