The total number of legs , 1,500 , on four-legged and two-legged animals in a zoo can be represented by the equation 4x+2y=1,500. Interpret the x- and y- intercepts.

Please show work so I can understand , if yu cant you can just give me the answers.

You need to clear the variables by moving everything else to the other side of the equal sign. So..

X
1) subtract 2y on each side => 4x = 1500 - 2y
2) divide by 4 => x = (1500-2y)/4

Y
1) subtract 4x on each side => 2y = 1500 - 4x
2) divide by 2 => y = (1500 - 4x)/2
