The early fur traders in North America were the French settlers who hunted beavers and sold the fur to many European countries in order to accrue wealth. French traded with Iroquois Indians by giving knives and kettles and in turn they were given pelts and thus the trade strengthened.
Famous French Explorer Samuel Champlain had started a famous fur port in Quebec and it became a bustling place for the fur trade.
They acquired fur from Indians and Ottawa people and sold it to Europe. French traders explored North America in search of Fur and thus France became an ally of European powers.
