The symbolic meaning of Greek gods and goddesses are for the things that the Greek didn’t understand before, so they just created a god/goddess and put that being in charge of it. For example, the Greeks didn’t understand lightning before, or really anything that happened in the sky, so they made Zeus, the god of the sky and king of the gods. I think they should be taken literally because they represent everything in life.
