Darwin basically invented the word Natural Selection. I’m not sure what Pasteur did.

The theory of origin of species was first given by Darwin in 1859,  while this idea was challenged by Louis Pasteur to give the idea of spontaneous generation.

What did Louis Pasteur contribute to science?

Louis Pasteur ,a French scientist, known as one of the fathers of the germ theory.  He discovered a clear picture relating germs to various diseases.

He discovered the molecular asymmetry of crystals of sodium ammonium tartrate, where he stated that two molecules in  two mirror-image arrangements cannot superimposed because of molecular asymmetry, or chirality.

This is the  core concept behind field of stereochemistry and applied in biomolecules like DNA.

He also have studied the process of alcoholic fermentation and given  an evidence microorganism derived fermentation.

He had created a vaccines for anthrax and rabies.
