Baba Abdalla is a character from the Story of the Blind Baba Abdalla – one of the tales recounted in the book 1001 Nights. The dervish then decided to take both the dervish and Abdalla’s loot to be given to people who are more generous and in need of the wealth, leaving Abdalla to be a blind beggar. He retells this story in shame to the Sultan, because he chose to back out from his agreement with the dervish due to his own greed. His greed also caused his own blindness, making him feel even more ashamed since he caused his own situation.
