Hello!

Well, the first human settlements in Jerusalem started sometime during the Early Bronze Age, somewhere around 3500 B.C.

Then, in 1000 B.C. (2500 years later), King David conquered Jerusalem and made it capital of the "Jewish kingdom"

That was an early action by King David, the second king (after Saul) of the united kingdom of Israel.

Although David was anointed king in Hebron, he very soon established the walled city of Jerusalem as the capital of his kingdom.

This was around 1,000 BCE, as we number the years now in the modern Western world.
