Becuase of the War, much of British land was no longer fit for farming. The British government then asked America if they could help. In turn, America encouraged its farmers to buy more land, equipment, and seeds using loans from banks. The farmers used this land to produce more crops and then they started to send all this food to Britain. Once Britain got back on her feet, though, is when the real problem began. Becuase America had all this extra food, the prices of said food started to drop quite quickly. Then the farmers couldn't pay back the loans from the banks, and the banks and no money to give to people. This is how the Great Depression began. After a few years, Franklin D. Roosevelt stepped in with his "New Deal" plan. The Great Depression ended because of this plan.
