As prairies grassland cover about 40% of the United States they are recently developed systems of North America. These grasslands stretch from the rocky mountain to east of Mississippi River and south of texas.
The grassland is a biome, including, purple needlegrass, wild oats, foxtail, ryegrass, and buffalo grass. Thus prairies are also known as the wheat bowl of North America and Texas is known as the wheat belt.
As being a winter crop it gets most of its required nutrients from the fertile soil and nearly 50% of the production is exported from the state.
