The American politics has seen a spectrum of change from 1854 today while in 1854 there were two parties the Whigs and the Democratic. The democratic slavery favouring while the Whigs differed in this case. Because of which Whigs was opposed and collapsed forming new party called the Republican.
Abraham Lincoln was the first President of this party and was successful in establishment of slavery. After Lincoln's death Republican Party still went on to see if the slaves got their rights. With time it Businessman and wealthy people got more involved with party for power.
Hence by 1920 this party becomes more of business party Until the economic crash in 1929 After which Franklin Roosevelt and other democrats come into power.
