1. Which type of thunderstorm is the largest in terms of size and area covered? Ordinary Thunderstorm, Mesoscale Convective System (MCS, squall line), or Supercell Thunderstorm If a shelf cloud from an MCS were to pass over you, how does the temperature and wind speed change? What is the most frequent type of damaging severe weather from thunderstorms? Straight Line Winds, 2. 3. Hail, or Tornadoes

Respuesta :

1. Mesoscale Convective System

The mesoscale convective system is a very large thunderstorm, or rather system of thunderstorms. This is not a single thunderstorm, but instead it is multiple different thunderstorms that have merged and act as one enormous system. It can occupy space of up to 100 km. These thunderstorms can make all sorts of problems, and because they are combination of different types of thunderstorms, pretty much everything can be expected from them.

2. If a mesoscale convection system is passing over some area, the weather conditions will change rapidly. The first thing that will be noticed is that the wind speed increases more and more, and as the storm peaks, the winds tend to be very strong. The temperatures too change, and they rapidly drop down, bring in much colder weather conditions.

3. straight line winds

The thunderstorms can cause damage in multiple different ways. While some are very devastating, some are not so much, and also, some are much more common, while others are rare. The hail and the tornadoes manage to cause lot of damage, but they are not very common occurrences. On the other hand, with almost every thunderstorm there are straight line winds. These are strong winds that manage to cause damage, be it of smaller or larger scale, depending on what exactly they are influencing.
