The carboxyl group, the amino group, and the central carbon that contains the R group.
Hello Rimind, okay?
First good night. ⇔
A protein is made up of amino acids. Picking up the word amino acid, and breaking it in half, will turn into: amino + acid.
Every time you find:
C = O
l
OH
It will be acidic, carboxylic acid.
Every time you find:
NH₂
It will be Amino / Amine.
Being:
C = O
l + NH₂ = Amino Acid.
OH
Note:
One part of the amine grouping is basic (Base) and another (acidic), so we can call it amphoteric (Amino acid which can be shared as much as Base, as much as Acid.)
attention :
There are Central Carbon (Alpha) that has four combinations being ultimately radical and is a determinant of one amino acid for the other. To be an amino acid, there are three regions. Always a bond will have an amine grouping, another bond with acid grouping and the hydrogen represented as (H)
Hope this helps. Good studies !!
