I, for the longest time, had no idea how to do this. But its actually pretty simple. You need to put it in y=mx+b form. (You just simplify and get "y" by itself). Once you do that its easy.
"m" is your slope (whatever you are multiplying x by)
"b" is your y intercept (how much you move the line up and down)
for example...
if your equation is y=3x-2, then your slope is 3, and your y intercept is -2.
