To find the area of a rectangle multiply its height by its width. For a square you only need to find the length of one of the sides (as each side is the same length) and then multiply this by itself to find the area.
or add all the sides because it is a square and all the sides are equal in lentgh
1. square of the side,
if you are given the side of the square of which you are finding the area
you simply multiply the side to itself , since all the sides of the square are equal.
2. using a known diagonal,
if you are given the diagonal of the square of whose area you are finding,
then square the diagonal and divide it by 2
this is because if you divide the square in to two parts, you get two right triangles, the squared diagonal is the hypotenuse of the triangles,
which eqals to the sum of the other two sides squared.
