Some minorities were subjected to famine, bad housing areas, low medical help, pay inequality, government inequality. Famine was suppressed on minorities because of payment not being as high as higher ranking members of society. Housing areas had low quality of shelter, water, and waste disposal. Minorities were unable to vote, or participate in law reforms. Education was not given to them.

Also, culture and religion was a big part. Because of certain belief systems they were oppressed.

The ways that minorities were denied equality and opportunities were:

  • They were not allowed to vote.
  • They were not allowed to live in good neighborhoods.
  • They were made to use separate facilities.
  • Thir children had to attend separate schools.

Who were the minorities?

The term minory]ity is used to refer to the non white ethnic group in the United States of America.

It refers to the blacks, the Latinos, the Hispanics and the Latinos. These groups were discriminated on in the country.
