- Macromolecules are large (polymeric) organic molecules composed of units. There are four major macromolecules in nature namely;

- Proteins
- Nucleic acids
- Lipids
- Since all of these four macromolecules are organic in nature, they are formed from similar elements. All macromolecules are composed of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen atoms.
