Japan fought wars to triumph over Korea, however, after WWII, Japan lost all energy over it, after which the united states and the Soviets divided it along the 38th parallel. Korea became split into North and South Korea whilst Japan become forced to surrender all of their colonies to the Soviets and the USA after losing WWII.
Whilst the Japanese empire became dismantled at the top of global warfare, Korea fell sufferer to the bloodless battle. It became divided into two spheres of effect along the 38th parallel. The people managed south of the road - the Russians established a communist regime inside the north, later ceding effect to China.
