I'm having problems trying to figure out the difference between domestic an foreign powers. We have to indicate if each presidential power is domestic or foreign and these are the ones I have to match
1. The power to execute laws
2. Execute orders and execute privilege
3. powers of appointment and removal
4. powers of clemency
5. power to recommend legislation
6. power to veto
7. Diplomatic powers
8. commander in chief

Thank you in advance

Answer:

Domestic powers are:

1. The power to execute laws;

2. Execute orders and execute privilege;

3. Powers of appointment and removal;

4. Powers of clemency;

5. Power to recommend legislation;

6. Power to veto.

Foreign powers are:

7. Diplomatic powers;

8. Commander in chief.

Explanation:

The presidential powers are in Article II of the U.S. Constitution. The Domestic powers are related to the ones that apply to one country, all the powers that are applied to outside a country’s borders but still refers to their interest or matters are foreign powers.

Domestic powers here are 1. The power to execute laws (It is the President duty to execute the laws); 2. Execute orders and execute privilege (The President can execute directives and rules, when calling for privilege the President can withhold information from the public, Congress or the court); The option 3. Powers of appointment and removal is considered a domestic power, because the president can indicate members of the Supreme Court and the federal courts for his own country but they must be approved by the Houses, but he can also indicate ambassadors to foreign countries; 4. Powers of clemency (The President can give pardons for offenses against the United States); 5. Power to recommend legislation (President can make suggestions for Congress of laws); 6. Power to veto (President can veto a bill passed by the Houses of Congress).

Foreign powers are 7. Diplomatic powers (Diplomatic powers included the recognition of other countries and making treaties with them); 8. Commander in chief (President is the Commander in Chief of military and can engage in military action in other countries without the approval of the Congress).
