Newcomen was the inventor that came out with this revolutionary inventions for the marine travel. The goals of course was to make the boats and ships much quicker, to not depend on the weather conditions but on their own power, and the man power to be replaced with steam power. Even though the initial steam engine was far from perfect, it managed to inspire many other inventors in the years to come to develop much better and more practical steam engines for ships, which eventually improved significantly the marine transport and warfare.
