DNA is a nucleic acid that carries the genetic information of an organism. It is made up of nucleotide bases.
A gene is a segment of DNA which codes for a specific protein. This occurs through the process of transcription and translation. Transcription occurs when a section of DNA is transcribed to messenger RNA. During transcription information is passed from DNA to mRNA.
Then during translation the messenger RNA which contains the genetic code, is translated to amino acids which joins together to form polysaccharide and eventually proteins.
