One of Wilson's motivations in conveying the Fourteen Points discourse was to show a commonsense option in contrast to the customary thought of a global parity of intensity protected by collusions among countries—confidence in the feasibility of which had been broken by World War I—and to the Bolshevik-enlivened dreams of world upset that at the time were making strides both inside and outside of Russia.
