How to write in a "conversational tone" for an essay?

When using a "conversational tone" in writing the author usually addresses the audience using words you would in a face to face conversation. To simplify when writing in a conversational tone the article/essay should sound like a conversation between two people rather than something that would come out of a textbook.

5) Use Simple Language.
