We need to use an acronym called PEMDAS here.
It stands for this
Parentheses
Exponents
Multiplication
Division
Addition
Subtraction.

This tells you which steps to do first, so we follow that order.

Since there is only multiplication and addition, our new Acronym looks like this.
MA.
Multiplication and Addition.
First, we multiply!
(5x5) + (3x8) + 8 + 8 = X
(Five times five is 25, 24 is 3 times 8)
(25) + (24) + (16)
(8 plus 8 is 16~)
49, which is 25 plus 24, added to 16 is 65.

49+16 = 65

Okay,

so wherever you see the * sigh (multiplication), put an imaginary bracket around the two numbers.. basically:
(5*5)+(3*8)+8+8 according to the rule of BODMAS
Brackets Of Division Multiplication Addition and Substraction...
Now solve the brackets first so it'll look sth like this:

(25)+(24)+8+8 which is the same as 25+24+8+8
which'll give you 65!

p.s if you have a scientific calculator just put your numbers in  and you'll get the answer..no need to worry about the brackets and all.. but again if your question asks you to show your working, hopefully you'll know what to do!
Hope this helped! :)
