Why did European powers fight with one another in North America?
Conflicts over land sparked the war. French explorers were the first Europeans to arrive in the territories surrounding the Great Lakes, as well as the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.
France had deployed traders and trappers to these lands, where they had built trading posts. Britain claimed the same territory.
