It is the AQA Biology Revision Guide Or have I just completely misunderstood the question or the whole concept??? please explain thanks for reading my confused thoughts

Respuesta :

Arteries are the blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart. Veins are the blood vessels that carry blood back to the heart.

Answer:

Arteries carry blood towards the organ

Veins carry blood away from the organ

Explanation:

A common misconception is to get the concepts of arteries and veins mixed up. It is commonly thought that arteries are red (because due to the pigment in hemoglobin, when bound with oxygen, the red blood cells appear red), and veins are blue (because when the pigment in hemoglobin is not bound to oxygen, the pigment is blue/purple in color).

This can be confusing especially when concerned with the pulmonary system, because the pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs, and the pulmonary vein carries oxygenated blood back to the heart, to be pumped around the body.

The best way to remember this concept is that arteries arrive at the organ, while the veins vacate from the organ.
