I believe that public opinion plays a large role in shaping governmental policies in the United States today. The easiest example i can make of this is peer pressure. If people are telling you to do something over and over again, your most likely to do it at one point or another. The same goes for shaping governmental policies today. The government is listening to the people and what they want, and if many people want the same thing, that thing is most likely to happen. The government is supposedly being "peer-pressured" into into making these governmental policies. That is why I believe that public opinion plays a large role in shaping governmental policies in the United states today.
Public opinion, I suppose, plays a significant influence in molding government policy in the United States nowadays.
Peer influence is the simplest example I can think of. If someone tells you doing something repetitively, you're more than likely to do it at some time. The same is true now when it comes to developing government policy.
The government pays attention to what the people want, and if a large number of people have the same thing, it is quite likely to happen.
According to reports, the administration is being "peer-pressured" into enacting these regulations. That is why I feel that popular sentiment in the United States now has a significant influence in molding government policy.
