There are all kinds of "no"s to this question.

  1. Friction always goes in the opposite direction to the motion and friction is a force.
  2. When you are lifting something with a pulley, you provide a force that is opposite the direction of the upward motion of the something.
  3. If you are pushing down on a teeter totter and you are moving your younger brother upward, your force is in the opposite direction to his motion.
  4. When you fire a rocket upward on July 1st or July 4th, the rocket moves upward for awhile, but the force of gravity will eventually pull it down. The rocket has an upward force. The force of gravity is downward.
