Gerald Ford became President after the resignation of President Nixon. President Nixon resgined in order to avoid the possible impeachment by the Congress fro his involvement in the Watergate Scandal. Ford was his vice-President who assumed office after him. Ford later on gave Nixon the presidential pardon.
