What is Non Violent Protest?
Non Violent Protest is a practice of achieving goals through symbolic protest, civil disobedience, economic boycott and simultaneously refraining from violent form of politics.
The basic idea behind these kind of protest is to highlights the desires of an individual or group showing that something needs to change to improve the current condition of the resisting person or group without raising the weapons.
The torchbearer of this kind of protest was Mahatma Gandhi. Other important leaders promoting Non Violent Protest are- Nelson Mandela in South Africa and Martin Luther King Jr in U.S.A.
What is Civil Rights Movement?
The civil rights movement was a struggle for social justice took place during the 1950s and 1960s to provide equal rights for Black Americans in the United States.
The Civil War had officially abolished slavery, but it didn’t end discrimination against Black people which continued to endure the devastating effects of racism, especially in the South.
By the mid-20th century, Black Americans had had more than enough of prejudice and violence against them. They, along with many white Americans, mobilized and began an unprecedented fight for equality that spanned two decades
This unprecedented movement is considered as Civil Rights Movement.
What is Sit-in Movement?
Sit-in movement was the non-violent movement focusing on arousing sympathy for the demonstrators among moderates and uninvolved individuals.
Protestors used to sit in all the places and occupy and refused to leave if they are being discriminated.
The action caused economic hardship for the owners of the businesses, because the sit-in participants took up spaces that normally were filled by paying customers.
