Respuesta :
Machiavelli believed that public and private morality had to be understood as two different things in order to rule well. Machiavelli believed as a ruler, it was better to be widely feared than to be greatly loved. A loved ruler retains authority by obligation while a feared leader rules by fear of punishment.
I have provided a chart that further explains this topic.
Hope this helps! :P

Answer:
People will turn against him.
Explanation:
One of the core perceptions of Machiavelli's theory is that the leader must be feared in the first place. There is where resides his power, on the fear. Once the leader finds himself alone and without any support of his agents and political referrers, then the people will turn against him because the fear no longer exists.
