18×58÷100

Number×Percent Number÷100=Answer

Hiya!

Edit: Let me know if I'm wrong. :/

So, 18 is considered whole and 100% in this case. Half, or 50%, is 9. 1/3, or 33%, is 8.

How do we know all of this?

First of all, you devide 18/2 to get 9. That's simple. Divide 18/3 to get 8, which is also simple.

However, what isn't so easy is calculating 58%, unfortunately. Look at the HUGE gap just between 8 and 9- a 17% difference!

That means we have to go decimal. *dramatic music plays*

Half of 17 is 8.5. We know this because 16/2=8, and you add .5 to it to make 17. But, what does this have to deal with anything?

Well, if you chop 17% in half, you get 8.5%. That's how much is in .5 in this equation.

There's your answer. 58(.5)% is 8.5. If your teacher doesn't accept this number, you can try halving 8.5% to get 4.25%, which would make it 58.25%. (I think. It's getting complicated now).

Either way, you're going to have decimals.

If you found this especially helpful, I'd appreciate if you'd vote me Brainliest for your answer, if other people did not provide a helpful answer (but, I'm sure they did!). I want to be able to assist more users one-on-one! :)
