Why didn’t Victor commit suicide? He contemplated it and had many opportunities, so why didn’t he?

He claims not to have commited suicide for the reason that is Victor's "thrice-accused hands". But i also think it was because he was guilty and perhaps did not want the attention and possibly negative views thrusted upon him after death.
