Nobody likes a book without indented paragraphs, because some people like to stop reading at the end or beginning of one. Looking at a book without that sorta indentation is like going down a tunnel with no end in sight! People don't like to binge-read.
On that note, it also can create confusion. Our brains only have a certain attention span. It's a lot harder for us to stay focused on a book for long periods of time since it's motionless as opposed to movies and stuff. Improper formatting helps accelerate the depletion of our attention span, and so we might start reading in places we already read or not have gotten to yet.
