EVERYTHING electrical that we do in the real world ... positive and negative electric charges, static electricity, positive and negative electric current, lightning traveling up or down ... is ALL done with particles of NEGATIVE charge, called electrons.
== When you pile on extra electrons, you have a negative static charge.
== When you strip electrons away, you leave a positive static charge.
== When you make electrons flow through something, you have electric current. If it flows one way, it's called positive current. If it flows the other way, it's called negative current. But it's always electrons (negative charges) that are flowing from place to place.
