Your answer is B.

The correct answer is: B) The king wanted a divorce form his wife.

Although king Henry VIII was named "Defender of the faith" by the pope, he was responsible of the catholic's church and England split. He was married to Catherine of Aragon and as in all the monarchy's marriages, the main goal was to have a male baby that could inherit the crown. But this marriage couldn't achieve that amkinbg king Hnery mad. At the same time king Henry VIII was interested in Anne Boleyn, a queen's ladies-in-waiting. Anne was ambitious and intelligent, she wouldn't be with the king until he divorced the queen and marry her. Henry III then asked for a divorce to the pope Clement VII but he denied as he had political interests that could be affected.

The only solution that king Henry VIII and his advisors found was separating from the Catholic church and forming their own church under the protestantism. The king was named the Supreme Head of the Church and Thomas Cranmer (his closest advisor)  Archbishop of Canterbury granting him the divorce.
