The Incan civilization was heavily influenced by the Andes Mountains. Its most important city, Cusco, was located im what today is Perú, on a valley in the Andes. The Incas are considered an andean civilization and its empire, the largest of the Pre Columbian empires, extended mostly through the Andean Mountains. One of the most famous incan archeological sites, the Machu Picchu, is located on the mountains more than 2000 metres above sea level.
