Even the American Revolutionary War against Great Britain was ideologically based on this admiration, british colonists in america during the revolution believed England had lost it's way due to corruption and had no right to impose taxes without the presence of americans in the Parliament, and thus it was up to them to preserve the english way, becoming independent.
