According to the ASPCA’s National Rehoming Survey, pet problems are the most common reason that owners rehome their pet, accounting for 47% of rehomed dogs and 42% of rehomed cats.  Pet problems were defined as problematic behaviors, aggressive behaviors, grew larger than expected, or health problems owner couldn’t handle. this is what i found

Many animals are stray because they get lost or run away from their homes without any identification on them. Some people do not spay or neuter their pets, so those pets continue to breed, causing an overpopulation as more and more litters are born. Some animals are surrendered to shelters for unknown reasons, but 20 percent of dogs who are surrendered were originally adopted from shelters.
