Hello!

When finding the amount of significant figures in a given value, here are some  conditions.

  1. Non-zero digits are significant (48 = 2 sigfigs)
  2. Zeros between non-zero digits are significant (408 = 3 sigfigs)
  3. Zeros before the first non-zero digit are not significant (0.048 = 2 sigfigs)
  4. Zeros after a decimal point are always significant (480.0 = 4 sigfigs)
  5. Zeros before a decimal point are always significant (480. = 3 sigfigs)

Looking at the given number, we know that non-zero digits are significant, so we have confirmed 3 sigfigs. Also, there is a zero between non-zero digits. So there is an additional significant figure.

Therefore, there are 4 significant figures.
