Hint- You can solve this by unitary method.

The price of each candy packet = $0.99 = $\ \dfrac{99}{100}$

So price of 10 candy packets will be = $\dfrac{99}{100}\times 10=\dfrac{990}{100}=\ 9.90$

Therefore, you have to pay $9.90 to the cashier for your purchase.
