Stages of the Lytic Cycle:

Stage 1: Exposure. Viruses and the bacteria can enter a host in different ways.

Stage 2: Attachment to the host and then enters the host. The virus  attaches to the host and enters the cell membrane. OUCH!

Stage 3: Replication. If the virus finds a permissive host it begins to replicate. Eww!

Stage 4: Then it's Lysis. TAADAAA!!

There are 5 steps of the lytic cycle. The Lytic cycle simply means bursting or rupturing cycle, over and over again.

It is one of the cycles of a bacteriophage (virus) in which there is a master-slave relationship between the bacteriophage (master) and bacteria (slave).

Following are the steps of the lytic cycle-

  • Attachment: In this step, the bacteriophage, attaches itself by its tail to the.
  • Digestion: during this step, the bacteriophage contains an enzyme.
  • Injection
  • Taking Control
  • Multiplication
  • Rupturing

Thus, the 5 steps of the lytic cycle are attachment, digestion, injection, taking control, multiplication, and rupturing.
